Today I was determined to do something fun with Addi in between all my cleaning. I decided to make homemade playdough and it was definitely a huge hit. I can still to this day remember making homemade playdough with my mom. Kneading the warm dough on the counter and then making all sorts of creations. One of our favorites was bird’s nests with eggs and momma birds.
Homemade playdough is a lot softer than regular and stays fresh longer. It doesn’t break into a million little dry pieces either making it easier to clean up. It is so easy to make, you can make your own colors in much larger batches and you don’t have to worry if your little one eats some of it:)
Ingredients
1 cup water
1 Tablespoon oil
Food coloring as desired
1/2 cup salt
1 cup all purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Directions
Pour water and oil into a medium pot. Add food coloring as desired and stir. Add in flour, salt and cream of tartar and continue to stir over medium high heat until the dough thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pot. Dump on the counter and knead until smooth. Keep fresh by storing in an air tight container or bag when not using.
